Six Sigma Green Belt Overview
Organizations implementing Six Sigma need certified professionals who can translate improvement methodologies into tangible business results. The challenge isn't understanding DMAIC theory—it's applying statistical tools to real processes, managing stakeholder resistance, and sustaining improvements long after project completion. You need capabilities including: project charter development, process mapping with data overlays, measurement system analysis, root cause validation, and control plan implementation.
This certification course builds your Six Sigma Green Belt expertise through experiential learning and practical application. You'll learn to scope improvement projects using stakeholder analysis and SIPOC diagrams, map processes with value stream analysis, validate measurement systems through Gage R&R studies, identify root causes using fishbone diagrams and Pareto analysis, implement solutions with pilot testing protocols, and sustain improvements through statistical process control charts. The course emphasizes immediately usable decision trees, job aids, and statistical templates you can apply to real projects. While statistical concepts are covered comprehensively, the focus remains on practical application rather than theoretical mathematics.
This isn't a generic quality improvement seminar. You'll work through a complete project simulation, apply GRES problem-solving methodology to complex scenarios, and practice statistical analysis using real manufacturing and service industry data sets. The course recognizes that Green Belts operate under real constraints—limited resources, competing priorities, change resistance—and provides strategies for delivering results despite these challenges.

Examination & Certification Information
Recognized credentials that advance your career
The PECB Certified Six Sigma Green Belt exam is a 3-hour assessment covering six competency domains: fundamental principles, DMAIC methodology implementation, data-based decision making, project planning and completion, statistical tool interpretation, and organizational problem-solving. The closed-book exam tests both conceptual understanding and practical application skills.
Upon passing, you can apply for either PECB Certified Six Sigma Provisional Green Belt (no experience required) or PECB Certified Six Sigma Green Belt (requires 3 years professional experience with 2 years in Six Sigma projects, plus 200 hours of project activities). The credential demonstrates to employers that you possess validated expertise in leading process improvement initiatives and applying statistical analysis to drive measurable results. Certification requires signing the PECB Code of Ethics. Failed exams can be retaken within 12 months at no additional cost.
