Ministry of Finance Debt Repayment Diversion 2026Ministry of Finance, Planning and Economic Development

The breach was only discovered when Australian officials followed up on the missing payment. The incident triggered a high-level investigation by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) and highlighted critical gaps in the security of financial communication protocols and payment instruction verification.
