  • De Zalmhaven Tower Structural Verification 2019
    BAM Advies & Engineering

For the construction of the 215-meter Zalmhaven Tower in Rotterdam, the tallest residential building in the Benelux, BAM Advies & Engineering utilized ETABS to re-model and verify the initial structural designs. The software was specifically chosen for its advanced capabilities in high-rise stability and weight calculations, allowing for a rigorous peer review of the primary load-bearing system.

The ETABS model enabled the engineering team to automate the labeling of structural elements via Python scripts and provided a secondary verification of the SCIA Engineer models used in the design phase, ensuring compliance with Dutch safety standards for skyscrapers.

Training venue

Mombasa offers a range of hotels from international-standard beach resorts in Nyali and Diani to business-class properties on Mombasa Island, many of which have conference and training facilities. Delegates should confirm venue AV equipment and room layout in advance, as standards vary.

Getting there

Direct flights are available on TUI fly Netherlands from Amsterdam (AMS) to Moi International Airport (MBA) in approximately 10–12 hours; year-round connections are operated by KLM and Kenya Airways via Nairobi (NBO) or Ethiopian Airlines via Addis Ababa (ADD).

Visa

Kenya replaced traditional visas with an Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA) from January 2024. Most non-African nationals must apply via etakenya.go.ke at least 7 days before travel (~USD 32–34); many African nationals are exempt following the May 2025 expansion. Confirm your specific eligibility on the official eTA portal.

Safety

Mombasa is generally welcoming to visitors, but delegates should use licensed taxis or rideshare apps rather than informal transport, especially after dark. Keep valuables discreet, stay aware in crowded market areas, and carry a copy of your passport rather than the original.
