Getting there
Direct nonstop service is available from New York JFK to Nairobi Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (NBO) on Kenya Airways, with the flight taking around 15 hours. From other U.S. cities, itineraries typically connect via New York JFK, or via hubs such as Addis Ababa on Ethiopian, Istanbul on Turkish Airlines, or Dubai on Emirates, depending on the departure city.
Visa
U.S. passport holders traveling to Kenya must obtain an Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA) before departure; Kenya says the eTA is mandatory for all foreign visitors except EAC citizens, is typically valid for 90 days, and is usually processed in about 3 working days. For business travel, the eTA application requires a company invitation letter and a copy of the company registration, and the Kenya eTA site also requires a valid passport with at least 6 months’ validity and one blank page, plus flight details, accommodation, and payment method.
Safety
Central business districts and major training venues are generally busy and secure, but delegates should use registered taxis or app-based rides at night, keep valuables discreet, and follow local advice on areas to avoid after dark.
